Platelet-rich fibrin is a powerful solution made from a small sample of your own blood. Sometimes referred to as “next-generation PRP,” PRF is a concentrated solution rich in growth factors, cytokines, and other cells that promote new tissue growth.

That small volume of blood goes into a device called a centrifuge which spins it at a high rate of speed, causing the solid components to separate from the liquid plasma. Your practitioner extracts the platelets and fibrin, combining these elements to create a concentrated solution. 

Once the solution is ready, Dr. Schultz uses a thin needle to inject small volumes of the solution into your scalp. A grid-like pattern ensures even coverage. You may feel a slight pinching sensation during the injection process, but there is no significant pain. Treating large areas of your scalp only takes a few moments, and the entire process usually takes less than an hour. 

Some minor soreness, redness, or swelling is normal in the hours following your treatment. Over-the-counter pain medication can soothe discomfort. There is no need to limit your activities following PRF hair restoration.
